FOSTER CITY, Calif.--October 4, 2000 iMahal (www.imahal.com), a portal specializing in Success and Learning, launched its first Scholarship Contest. “We at iMahal are committed to encouraging, promoting and supporting Education and Learning, the cornerstone for Success. This contest is the first for iMahal, but certainly not the last.” Said Prof. Srikant Datar, an iMahal founder and Senior Associate Dean of Harvard Business School. “We shall continue to demonstrate our commitment to promoting Learning through a series of Scholarship opportunities for students, with increasing frequency and larger financial awards.”

Contestants should submit a 500-1,000 words long essay by December 8, 2000 on, “The Internet: Digital Bridge or Digital Divide. The winner will be presented with an award of US$1,000. Two second-place winners will win US$500 each. Five third-place winners will win US$100 each. Fifty honorable mentions will get one iMahal T-shirt each.

iMahal, the portal for Success and Learning, stands out for its unique focus on education and careers.
iMahal complements these services of universal appeal with another powerful dimension: that of being India-centric. Specialized targeted services, such as the largest, proprietary India-centric Web directory, are offered to over 1 billion Indians around the world.
Unlike other look-alike portals, iMahal was designed from the ground up to be both beautiful and easy to use. iMahal has a rather distinguished, uncluttered look & feel - projecting an elegant blend of the East and the West. Navigation around the iMahal portal is rather impressive as well. The user is always one click away from wherever the user wants to be.
All in all, iMahal is a unique portal: for its focus, its content, its look & feel, and its navigation.
