Dear GRE or GMAT for MIS:

The answer to your question is a bit tricky. We are assuming that you are asking for studies in the US. A Master in Science (MS) program in MIS is typically offered by the Business School, or Faculty of Commerce as you would call it in India or Canada, of a university. The entrance exam requirements vary across schools. Some schools in the US require that you take the GRE (Graduate Record Exam, a standardized entrance exam). But some schools offer the choice of taking either the GRE or GMAT (Graduate Management Aptitude Test, a standardized entrance exam). Admissions requirements vary across schools, and you would be well advised to research individual schools of interest. The information is available on their websites. You can find the List of Business Schools in the US in the iMahal Education Channel.

Now here is the tricky part. MIS is also offered as an area of specialization or concentration in the MBA and MS in Computer Science programs as well. Should you choose to take the MBA path, you would be required to take the GMAT. On the other hand, an MS in Computer Science would require you to take the GRE. You can find the List of Computer Science Schools in the US in the iMahal Education Channel.
