Nations with nuclear weapons and capabilities have been pressuring India to sign the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. Among other things, the treaty would ban the testing of nuclear weapons. India has tested her nuclear bombs and so has Pakistan.

Opponents point out that the treaty benefits those who already have the bombs and leaves India behind. India should decide what is necessary for maintaining her security and not let some world treaty decide for her.

Proponents say that the treaty would stabilize the region and the world, and would prevent rogue states from acquiring dangerous technologies. The world should be on the path of destroying all nuclear weapons and not on the path of uncontrolled proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

What do you think?
